Hi, I'm Nicolás Ferrando. Game Programmer.

I build games that feel good to play.

Second-year Game Programming student who loves building systems from scratch. From retro PSX-style survival horror mechanics in Unreal to low-level custom graphics pipelines in bare C, I write the code that makes games feel right.

Currently into: Horror Mechanics, Low-level Memory in C, Enemy AI, PSX Aesthetics

Case study

Classic PSX fixed-camera system with modern AI.

  1. Problem

Replicating the classic PSX survival horror feel requires cameras that transition seamlessly without confusing player input.

  2. What I built

    • A dynamic fixed-camera trigger system that handles blending and depth of field.
    • An enemy AI state machine for patrolling and chasing.
    • Core survival mechanics including stamina, interaction, and inventory.
  3. What I learned

Managing player orientation relative to changing camera angles is a mathematical challenge, but it is vital for that authentic retro horror game feel.

Player backstory

Why I make games

Photo of Nicolás Ferrando

I am a second-year video game programming student at ESAT in Valencia. I spend most of my time diving deep into gameplay programming, writing custom memory management in C, and building complex logic in C++ and C#.

I am heavily inspired by retro PSX-style aesthetics, aiming to develop a game with that aeshtetic.
